So you like your body well enough. You are active, you eat healthy food, you indulge sometimes – as you should. But something is not quite the way you’d like it to be. Maybe you miss the body you had before having children; or you lost a significant amount of weight (congratulations!), but your skin didn’t get the memo?
Consider abdominoplasty
If your tummy has been stretched out of shape, the abdominal muscles often don't function effectively either. This can be the cause of low back pain and poor posture. A tummy tuck operation (also known as abdominoplasty) can often be combined with other surgical procedures such as liposuction or breast surgery. Patrick Lyall at has the skills, and the experience, to bring out your best self, together. Now’s the time to consider a tummy tuck.
Your way to a flat stomach, style
During a tummy tuck, also known as abdominoplasty, Patrick will remove excess soft tissue to give you a flatter stomach and tighten the anterior abdominal muscles. During the consultation process, you will define your wishes, with Patrick’s advice guiding you. Once you have agreed on the desired outcome, Patrick will provide you with a personal cost estimate.
Your tummy tuck surgery
Patrick will perform your tummy tuck under general anaesthetic at Mercy Hospital. The operation usually takes between 3-4 hours, after which you will need to stay in hospital for two to three nights. As with any medical procedure, there is a risk of complications. Patrick will talk you through them in detail during the consultation process.
Recovery after abdominoplasty
Abdominoplasty is significant surgery, and you can expect swelling and some discomfort for up to a couple of weeks. Once you return home, Patrick will arrange regular follow-up to monitor your healing process. You’ll need to wear supportive garments for about six weeks. We will get you up and moving on the day of surgery. Your return to exercise needs to be gradual.
While recovery times after a tummy tuck vary between patients, you can expect to be off work for 3 to 4 weeks if you have a desk job, or up to 6 weeks if your job is more physically demanding.
Tummy tuck cost at
Patrick will always give you a personal cost estimate before any procedure is agreed on. The biggest influence on cost is time spent in the operating theatre. For your tummy tuck, you can expect a cost of about $20,800 - $30,000 (3 - 4 hours of surgery) which includes Patrick’s fee as the surgeon, as well as hospital (including 2-3 nights in hospital) and anaesthetic fees. If you and Patrick agree on a simultaneous liposuction or breast surgery, this will involve additional cost but will not lengthen your hospital stay.
